You may be aware that Pope Leo XIV recently issued a letter entitled ‘Magnifica Humanitas’ warning us about the dangers of AI - but did you know this ‘letter’ has 42,000 words! The Papal ‘Encyclical Letters’ are fairly infrequent - only a handful in the last 10 years - so something to take note of perhaps? His conclusion - that we might become ‘weavers of hope’ has an uplifting tone that I like.

Businesses are making layoffs, reducing headcount and so therefore are increasing profit margins thanks adoption of AI? Well, not that simple and apparently this strategy is not working - “layoffs don't create returns, they just create vacancies”. Read more about it via The Register. More on the topic of human resource vs AI usage. I caught an interesting podcast this week - AI & I by Every - suggesting humans are way more crucial in the transformation to AI than we may have thought… “the further away an agent gets from a human, the less valuable it is”. Food for thought for sure.
