Will it actually EVER stop raining?

Your selection of 5 Things for this week:

  1. There are viral posts, then there are viral posts. Matt Shumer - seeming regular VC guy posting modestly about AI - recently had a LinkedIn article go north of 80m views. Apparently written to explain the impact of AI to his dad, “Something Big Is Happening” also got him onto CBS News.

  1. In response to Matt’s quite alarming predictions in his article, several others have written reply articles. It’s worth reading “Something Messy Is Happening” by Ann Handley (WSJ writer and author) and Robert Rose’s “There’s Something Happening Here…” blog post.

  1. Has it recently been Valentine’s Day?! Ah, must have missed it. So here’s an interesting read about the “Art of 18th Century Love Letters” for all the romantics out there.

  1. Alex M H Smith - author, strategist, marketer - is begging for us all to consume less content. Why? Watch his YouTube video to find out (ironically, it’s good content!).

  1. Last but not least, have you heard of Moltbook? It’s a social-media, reddit-style platform JUST for AI agents. No humans (well, ratio is 88 bots to 1 human). And, there are 1.5m agents using it - creating their own religion, language and currency. And, it’s just had a huge data breach. Built via OpenClaw (recently acquired by OpenAI), it feels like a disaster waiting to happen.
