Your selection of things for this week:

It was never just ‘speed’, always about ‘velocity’

I’ve been repeating this a lot recently, and I feel like it’s starting to get traction. Building, innovating, developing brands and businesses is more about velocity than it is about speed. Simply semantics? No, I’d say not. The difference = direction ➡

Are you a winner?

Sure you are - but you have to be in it to win it. The Tech South West awards deadline has been extended to Aug 8th.

Maybe this is your opportunity to win big in 2025?

Lots of categories. Lots of luck ☘

Your customers don’t talk like you do

The gap between the language ‘we’ use to sell our products, and how our customers talk about their problems and needs is… HUGE. Here’s a brilliant reminder of this from Lucy Heskins (from Oh Blimey) entitled No Keith, your customer didn't call your product ‘innovative’”. Love it!

Know your strengths well enough to StandOut?

I know there are many brilliant frameworks and profiling tools out there (Disc, Myers Briggs. Enneagram, GC Index etc). But have you ever tried StandOut? This is a way to identify your key strengths and I recently went through this assessment on recommendation by my coach. I found it genuinely insightful and highly enlightening. Very much recommend you check it out.

John Oliver on AI slop!

An amusing take (but equally truthful and concerning) on the topic of AI slop by John Oliver, host of Last Week Tonight. Worth a look when you’ve a few mins to spare.
